Fashion at the front: 40s style

Today is the 9th of May, the day we celebrate mankind´s victory over fascism. I am sure we have all heard those stories from our grandparents about how it was in the times of war. Remember when our grandaunt would tell us stories from the front, and we were most impressed to know that they had just one set of clothing (i.e. the uniform) which they had to wash at nights so they could wear it in the morning. And that they wore mens shoes which were heavy army boots that everyone had.
To our children´s minds at those times of war everyone went in dirty, faded uniforms with heavy army boots. We have grown up since then, have become wiser and better informed, and our grandaunt is not with us any more. And we found out that 40s wasn´t just about war and army boots. But certainly women (and men) like my grandaunt in worn-out uniforms made it possible.

And yes, this was some fashion from 40s:)
