DIY - Bicycle HandleBar Bag

Is this a fancy new bicycle bag? ...

I'm sharing with you a simple DIY for a bicycle handlebar bag.
This is a handlebar handbag that serves dual purposes. Handbag purse and/or a handlebar bag.

You start with a shoulder strap bag like the one below....

After you've unbuckled the buckle you wrap the strap around....

You wrap the long end around the one side then cross over to meet the short side of the strap which you've also wrapped. Buckle.

All done! All these fine leather bags with the exception of one bag have been thrifted! Average price has been $2.80.


Below is another bag, a vintage coach bag living a new life as a handlebar bag....

Even a backpack can work...

Here is another type of shoulder strap bag I like even better, if I can find ones with strap like these. The strap is detachable on each side. Each side is basically equal in length. It makes it much easier to wrap and I like the symmetry.

On my way to the beach I passed by these two girls locking up their beach cruiser bicycles. We chatted, I really liked her bright orange bag - I guess because I have a pink one like it.
Funny, latter I noticed I ended up just a few towels over on the beach...

Very warm day today, sun was blaring down hard. I squinted my eyes at just what kind of bicycle was ahead?

It was this very pretty bamboo bicycle I soon discovered! The owner told me she loved her bicycle but because it was bamboo it required dedicated upkeep to keep it looking good and at it's best. But then again she loved her bicycle!

Oh, and that's her friend waiting sweetly and patiently as I tried to quickly snap photos before the traffic light changed again...

p.s hope you can see/notice - 1) the beautiful flowers in the basket, 2) the pretty cornflower blue shade of nail polish on her fingernails and 3) the best wicker weaved bicycle seat I have ever seen!

Wicker Basket Ingenuity - DIY

A little ingenuity goes a long way. What we have here is a wicker basket elegantly, artistically attached to the bicycle handlebars - held with a little tan belt and two leather thongs ties. Simple.

I've been on the look out and eyeing vintage cycling jerseys for some time, quite naturally so - since I love all things vintage and bicycle related!
Hmmhh... it just had to be a matter of time before this (my secret pet passion) was translated by some astute designer into a hot Men's Wear Collection. In this case the designer is Thom Brown designing for Moncler. Oh, and guess what - the event was held in a VELODROME (in Milan Italy) the models were cyclists.

Fresh Flowers on Bicycle - DIY (of sorts)

How wonderful and clever - a way to always have fresh flowers adorn your bicycle!
What it is - a permanently attached flower vase (a steel tube painted white) and affixed to the bicycle basket....

Here's to Grant, the cool man who rides around with fresh flowers! - flowers reminiscent of these.

He tells me he is planning the "All the FreeKey People Parade" for late August - it's going to be an Art Bicycle Ride, something akin to the Kinetic Art Parade. Grant was one of the organizers on the Kinetic Art Ride, which was spectacular. Funny I still get publishing requests for a photo I took at that ride. Needlessly to say I am excited about the new ride coming up in August! I have weeks to get some arty bicycle concept going. Well, a little off topic - anyone watching "Work of Art"?

This wicker basket carrying case for a tea pot and two tea cups was just too darling. Perfect for transporting on the next Tweed Ride or SeerSucker Ride. I passed it up. Now I wish I hadn't.

Summer SeerSucker and Bicycles

My closet is brimming full of summer seersuckers.

Ah, what I would have worn to the recent SeerSucker Social with the Dandies and Quaintrelles in Washington DC - if I'd been fortunate enough to have been able to attend!!

Goodness, my closet is shouting out screaming wear me, wear me! - in seersucker - I have one jacket dress suit (see top photo) one pink strapless dress, one skirt, one jumpsuit/romper, one halter top, one classic RL man shirt. I didn't know I was a such seersucker fan until I recently organized my closet and the truth came out.

p.s. as summer progresses I will attempt to do a little more self timed shots to docu/share with you some of my 'seersucker days' on my bicycle.
